This week on the podcast, I finally got the chance to sit down with one of my favorite action figure photographers, Jax Navarro.
For a little over three years, Jax has been making waves in the toy photography sphere under the name @PlasticAction. In that time, his work has been shown at places like Toy Fair New York, Star Wars Celebration, and San Diego Comic-Con, and shared by outlets like ESPN, Entertainment Weekly, and Nerdist.
Plastic Action
I had the pleasure of meeting Jax in person at the Oregon Toy Photo Safari last year, though we unfortunately didn’t get a chance to shoot together. I wanted to watch him work, and see the magic behind his cinematic, action-filled photography that deftly blends sports, comedy, and pop culture.
Jax and I had a great time discussing his origins as a dog photographer, the influence sports and movies have had on his work, his commission and client work, and more!
Thanks for Listening!
Thanks to Jax for coming onto the show! And thanks for your patience; it took us almost a year to get your episode recorded, but I think it was definitely worth the wait. If you aren’t already, make sure to check out Jax’s work on Instagram, Twitter, and his website. I also want to take this opportunity to welcome Joshua Kittleson, aka @thegreyklerik to the podcast team! He’ll be taking over editing the episodes, starting with this one. Thanks Josh!
Have any follow-up questions for Jax? What do you think of his work? Continue the conversation with us in the comments below!
Thanks for listening, I’ll see you next week!
