On March 10, Netflix released the Second season of One Piece called One Piece: Into The Grand Line that makes now a great time to remind people and review the LEGO One Piece Windmill Village Hut set. Every hero has an origin story and this LEGO set represents Monkey D. Luffy’s the main protagonist of One Piece. It’s where his dream starts to become King Of The Pirates.

“It’s worth more than the rest of the loot” Why Toy Photographers Should Pick Up This Set

If you have read any of my other LEGO set reviews, you’d know that most of them have a short paragraph on why this LEGO set is worth it to buy as a toy photographer. I’ve reviewed the mid sized LEGO Millennium Falcon and The T. Rex Breakout set. Like this set both those sets are based on specific scenes, characters and locations what makes this set different from both of those is it’s price point. This set is only $30 dollars but to me it’s worth more than a Devil Fruit. Which according to Shanks is worth more than the rest of the loot. While this set probably won’t give you Gum Gum powers it will give you the ability recreate Luffy’s life before the Straw Hats and more. I love a set that enables me to not only recreate the tv or movie scene the set is based on, with my toy photography in my own home but to also use it and it’s accessories as a backdrop and props for my own stories I try to tell with my photography. And this set does just that.

Luffy’s Home : Party’s Bar : The Hut

Although this is the smallest of the One Piece sets at only 299 pieces its packed with detail, and doesn’t take much space. As someone with limited space to store and display LEGO sets I appreciate this fact. It’s small but don’t let that fool you, there’s plenty to help fill the frame of your toy photography. The Windmill Village hut is basically Party’s Bar where the orphaned Luffy lives. It’s the place Shanks and his pirate crew come to rest, resupply and celebrate. Party’s is tended to by Makiko.

Before The Straw Hats : The Minifigures

This set comes with three minifigures, Makino, Shanks, and of course Monkey D. Luffy. Makino is the owner of Party’s Bar where Shanks and his pirate crew The Red Hair Pirates stay when they stop to replenish their supplies in Windmill Village. She also looks out for Luffy who is “not” a street urchin. It comes with Shanks who saves Luffy , becomes his hero and inspires him to become King of The Pirates. And of course Luffy who comes with a fabled Devil Fruit he eats to gain his Gum Gum powers. All the figures have double sided faces which for a toy photographer is a plus. This set also comes with an extra Straw Hat alongside one with red hair attached to the hat.

Wanted!

The 2025 One Piece sets (with the exception of the two BrickHeadz sets) include a random printed wanted poster tile. Very similar to the ones in the LEGO Harry Potter Sets. My set came with Buggy. Which is awesome but, I would have liked to have gotten Luffy but, like Luffy I am going to have to keep dreaming of the day I find his face on a Wanted poster. The Party’s Bar Shack has a wall where you can hang your One Piece wanted posters.

From MANGA, to Anime, to Live Action, To Toy Photography : Recreating One Piece

I told you earlier that I love getting a LEGO set and recreating as many scenes as possible I can with it. Here’s some of the scenes I recreated with this 299 piece set.

My Final Thoughts

At least one of these pictures would look great on my nephew’s wall who loves One Piece and was one of the reasons I thought this set would be worth it for me to get. As a note gifting your toy photography to those you love is one of the best things you can do with your art. And I’ve been on this print a toy photo on a 3×3 tile and gift it stint. And I will be gifting at least of these to my nephew. To me this $30 dollar 299 piece set is worth it. Just so that I can recreate One Piece scenes for my nephew. The shack, minifigures and new LEGO light brown colored boat are a bonus. If you love One Piece this set is for you. If you are looking for a good small LEGO hut to add to the backgrounds of your toy photography this set is for you.
