The Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas LEGO set is a thing of beauty that will keep giving me photo opportunities for years to come.
The LEGO Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas set is a delightful tribute to the iconic 1993 stop-motion film. As a fan of both LEGO and Tim Burton’s whimsical Halloween-meets-Christmas world, I found the set to be both highly detailed and true to the spirit of the movie.
LEGO Design and Build Experience
The set captures Halloween Town perfectly, with its eerie yet charming aesthetic. It features key locations like Jack Skellington’s house, the iconic Spiral Hill, and even Dr. Finkelstein’s lab. The details are impressive, from the gothic architecture of the buildings to the whimsical crooked fences and spooky trees.
The build is moderately challenging, with some intricate parts that require attention, making it ideal for intermediate builders. For experienced LEGO fans, it offers a satisfying mix of familiar building techniques and some unique twists, especially in recreating the organic, twisted shapes of Halloween Town. The set features 2193 pieces and when we finished the set one of the kids said “188 pages! This took forever!” Also, with that being said if some of the pieces are not perfectly in place it is due to me building this set as 12 6-8 year old girls were running around our house for a Halloween cookie decorating party.
The LEGO Minifigures
The set includes several key characters, and each minifigure is impressively detailed. Jack Skellington, with his long, slender frame and striped suit, looks fantastic. The Sally minifigure is beautifully done as well, complete with patchwork dress details. Other characters like Boogie’s Boys and Zero are included, adding to the playability and collectible appeal.
LEGO Playability and Display:
For those who want to play out scenes from the movie, the set has some interactive elements like moving parts in the lab or the spiral hill, making it more than just a static display. However, it really shines as a display piece. Fans of the film will appreciate the opportunity to showcase this detailed rendition of Halloween Town on a shelf, especially during the Halloween and Christmas seasons.
LEGO Details And Scenes
The tiny scenes in this LEGO set are my favorite part. You have larger scenes like the movie poster and then smaller areas of the LEGO set you can use to build other scenes for photos. There is so much potential for LEGO minifigure portraits as well. Having both pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns to use for photos is a lot of fun too.

Price and Value:
While the set leans toward the higher end of LEGO’s pricing, given its license, detail, and number of exclusive minifigures, it feels justified to me. The set is a fantastic collector’s item, especially for fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas. This LEGO set will now make an appearance each Halloween going forward.
Final Thoughts On Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
LEGO’s The Nightmare Before Christmas set is a charming and faithful representation of Tim Burton’s world, offering a delightful building experience with plenty of nostalgia. If you’re looking for a set to build as a family or in a small group, I invite you to consider The Nightmare Before Christmas. With three distinctive and satisfying builds, there is plenty to entertain three adults (or even building pairs) as you build this set. Whether you’re a LEGO enthusiast or a fan of the film, this set is a must-have, especially for those who love a touch of spooky whimsy.
Thanks for the review, Matt – I’ve been debating this set and you make me lean toward the positive. Maybe I’ll put it on my Christmas list!
