It was about time for something new. Instead of elaborate environments, I wanted abstraction so I could focus on the characters (not the movie characters but my own interpretation of them). Instead of an entirely vertical story, I wanted to fathom the possibilities of the horizontal, the paradigm being comics rather than movies. And I wanted some faces I could work with instead of mainly relying on body language. This is my first shot at a different narrative style – within the boundaries of the six image narrative, of course.

Beautiful series Tobias. I really love how you’re playing with page layout and how time is playing out. I can see how your layout is influenced by a graphic novel. Amazing! specially those first three images. I admire how you keep pushing the format and exploring new ways to tell your stories.
Thank you, Shelly! I am truly glad you like it. This post might not have happened, had we not talked about Scott McCloud’s “Understanding Comics” which I then re-read. So thank you for that impulse, too!
Great work. You have definitely centered in the characters faces and a comic style story. Bravo. I am in the middle of Understanding Comics as we speak. Lots of good information.
