The kids in our house love Bumblee and the Transformers so much that they begged me to get the LEGO Bumblebee set. Since I also love Transformers, I am weak when it comes to LEGO, and the new Transformers One movie comes out later this week, so I picked up the set. Take a look at some photos and details below!
LEGO Bumblebee Features
- 950-piece LEGO set
- The Transformer actually transforms!
- Articulated joints for total possibility

Building The LEGO Transformers Bumblebee Set
I was pretty impressed LEGO created an actual transforming robot since the Optimus Prime version did not transform. I really like the design of the car and the robot form. Building the Transformer was a breeze and a lot of fun.
My main photo at the top of this post with the kids is a composite since I only have one LEGO Bumblebee. I originally captured the photo below with the kids and was fine with it, but I kept thinking it sure would be cooler if you could see both the car and robot form. That being said, to create the photo with both the car and robot mode, I had to set up a tripod and make sure the camera did not move while I transformed Bumblebee. Since the lighting was changing from within my house quickly I had to transform it quickly and was very happy I practiced a few times before the main photoshoot. Building a LEGO Transformer is pretty cool. Transforming it back and forth, not so much. By all means, some Transformers are a pain to transform, but a LEGO Transformer is even more annoying due to the parts that fall apart. This video really helped me get through it, transforming it from a robot to a car for the first time since that was the most frustrating.
Final Thoughts
Known as B-127 on his home planet Cybertron, Bumblebee is often considered the “little brother” of the heroic Autobots. He may be small, but his courage and determination are immeasurable. Designed with Transformers fans in mind, this detailed interpretation of the iconic 1980s Autobot converts from robot to vehicle mode – without rebuilding! It’s pretty sweet and will have permanent shelf space in my house.
Autobots, roll out!
Good review – It’s great that it transforms!
