We’ve been going on for months about toy safaris, in particular the one just gone in Oregon, but also the one I’m beginning to arrange for the autumn in the UK (see the end of this post for more details!)

This week however (as of about 3 hours ago, if you are reading this just as it goes live) I’m in Paris for the annual Stuck in Plastic Toy Safari, this year hosted by Julien (Ballou34). I’ve been to a few Stuck in Plastic meet-ups before (Hamburg and Edinburgh) and this one looks to be even more amazing! I mean, it’s Paris!

I’m actually going for a full five nights because I couldn’t resist adding on a day at Disneyland whilst we were there! It’s looking to be an amazing adventure, featuring the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and I’m certainly planning on making my way to the Shakespeare and Co bookshop whilst there!

I’m in Paris (OK, so this is mini-land Paris, but it still counts!)

Packing decisions

Packing is always a tough one. But, this year I have a new rucksack that actually suits for toy photography, and I’m planning on travelling (reasonably) light on the toy front.

Two boxes, one zipper pouch. That’s enough right? I mean, there’s only so many toys I can photograph in five days!

I did however pop out to go dinosaur hunting to find a baby dinosaur to introduce to Paris. He’s so cute! I’m sure the Parisians will love him!

I’ve even prepared some wieners, just in case wiener photography has spread to this part of the world… (I still need someone to explain this mystery of the Oregon Toy Safari to me. It’s a little… odd.)

Weiner photography is a thing now?

So, I’ll be back next week, full of excitement and tired feet, ready to share my experiences of Paris (and possibly some photos of wild toy photographers in Paris).

But wait, don’t go yet! There’s more to share!

UK Toy Photographers Meet-up 2018

We have a location and a date for the first official UK Toy Photographers blog photo safari!

When: 28th, 29th and 30th September
Where: London

Official sign up for the event will be organised and shared over the next couple of weeks but SAVE THE DATE in your diaries!

The (brief) details I have for you now:

  • Friday night we will have shared evening meal as an ice breaker and do some evening photography around London
  • Saturday we will spend in London itself playing tourists
  • Sunday we will likely spend at Kew Gardens (a tube ride away)

But what about other locations?

But what about the votes for something further North you ask?

Well, next year we will be running our 2019 event in the Lake District. Keep your eyes open and toys at the ready for information about this event later in the year.

If you have any questions about any of these events, leave a comment and I’ll get back to you!
