Alien 3 is not the most popular film among xenofans. I, for one, was very taken by the claustrophobic and dark atmosphere of the film. So much so that as a kid I stole my father’s worn jacket from his workshop. This jacket was similar to the jackets worn in the film, and I even made appropriate patches for it.

But the scene I liked the most was probably the best and [paradoxically] the most famous scene in the entire Alien series: a tense close-up in which the xenomorph’s dripping muzzle approaches Ripley’s face.

Last year I made a LEGO version of this scene. As soon as I finished taking this photo, I had an idea for another one, which was inspired more by meme culture. Because this scene, like almost everything around us, has been pulverized by “memers.” I wanted to replace the xenomorph with other aliens known from pop culture, starting with Alf. It took me over a year to find the right Alf figure [I insisted on using the vintage plush clip-on version I had as a child], but what is delayed is remembered, and both the photo with Alf and the Six Image Narrative below fit in nicely with the recent release of ALIEN: Romulus.

However, I have to admit that I was inspired more by the memes than by the new Alien movie.
