When we dreamt up the idea of running a photography themed giveaway, we never thought picking the Collectable Minifigures Series 17 winner would be so difficult.
We had 38 entries on G+ and 203 entries on Instagram. That’s over 240 wonderful photos that we had to sift through to pick just one winner. Not an easy task!
So, how did we do this?
We, the judges were made up of Shelly and I, plus we lumbered our G+ moderators Tony, Jason and Jordan with the arduous task of helping us.
Each of us scrolled through the #toy_photographers_giveaway tag on G+ and Instagram and selected one post from each platform. We each made our selections based on creativity, storytelling, and the idea we’d most like to see become a reality if that person was selected as the Series 17 winner.
Once we’d each made our choices, we tallied the votes and (luckily for us) had a clear winner that we all agreed upon.
Who is it?
There were so many standout entries. Special mentions go to @nivrana for his last minute “pictures of you” series, @tyroga for his wonderful “Winged Warriors” and “Highway Robbery” entries, @ryandeanlego for all his incredible photos and stories especially the “Rocket Boy as a baby“, @the_aphol’s wonderful black and white cry for the “Retro Spaceman“, +Lynn’s wonderful entries especially “Tara waiting for the hotdog vendor” and +Joecow’s lovely depiction of the “Circus Strong Man” after leaving the circus.
However, after we’d all voted and the votes were tallied, there was one photographer that all of agreed had created interesting stories through their photos. The two photos that stood out for us were these.
Congratulations Tomek! You’re the Collectable Minifigures Series 17 winner!
Both these entries has us all giggling at the stories behind them and marveling at the inventiveness you’d used in not relying on Minifigures to tell your stories. Way to think outside the box Tomek!
We can’t wait to see these photos grow with the addition of the Rocket Boy and the Retro Space Man. And all the other 14 Minifigures on their way to you.
Thank you
On behalf of Shelly and I, and our G+ team, I’d like to thank everyone who entered. All your photos were wonderful. I had a hoot scrolling through all the entries. At times I got lost in the photos and the stories attached to them, and forgot I was judging a competition.
As I said, choosing just one winner was so difficult. Please, if you weren’t selected this time, don’t be disheartened. There will be more giveaways in the future. As we want to share the love evenly, if you didn’t win this time, there’ll be one less competitor you’ll be up against next time! But that doesn’t mean @tomekskog can’t still join in the fun and creativity of upcoming giveaways! We might even call on him to help us to vote on future giveaway winners!

For all Gods of Colourful Plastic, thank You! I’m so surprised! ? Thank You Shelly, thank You Brett!
Congrats. Great entries
Congrats to the winner. Clever and imaginative. ?✌️
Congratulations! Beautiful pictures! You deserve it 🙂
Great photos all around. Excellent shots from the winner.
Thank You very much for kind words pals! ?
I remember showing that image of the rocket to my partner when it first appeared in the feed and said “well I know I haven’t won now!”… it was a standout for sure.
Congrats Tomek! Well deserved.
Now I have only four more sleeps before I have to explain to the person behind the toy store counter that I just want to stand there for a while, in peace while I feel-up their series 17 bags looking for my complete set… oh, who am I kidding, I would have been doing that anyway to find duplicates of my favourites. 😛
Tomek has such a wonderful feed, I can’t wait to see what he does with his 16 newest friends.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who totally cheats mystery packs!
Congratulations Tomek! What great shots! I love the simplicity of them. 🙂
Congrats, Tomek! Very well deserved. I absolutely love your two images. They’re simple but tell a great story. Like Brett said, it’s great how you managed to say so much without even using minifigs. Very clever! Can’t wait to see what you come up with once your prizes arrive
I had such an awesome laugh with that space gun and pile of “orange something!” So well thought out and a funny demise. He’ll get a new spacegun that ain’t so defective now.????
Well done Tomek. With your eye for a great image I’d like to see you as a guest judge.
Wow! Thank You my friends! I’m not accustomed with so much warm words about my work. Thank You.
The orange something was cayenne pepper powder, so this accident was literally hot.
Your expectations about 17th series photos are little bit frightening, but I’ll do my best. As always.
Thank You all once again ?
Gorgeous images Tomek, a well deserved win!
