For awhile now, I’ve had this project on my ever-growing list of toy photography ideas. I thought it would be super fun to create a series of toy photos featuring songs from one of my favorite artists, Elton John. The recent Summer Creativity Challenge with Shelly Corbett provided the perfect opportunity to make it happen. Shelly provided our eager participant group a list of theme choices to use to create a six-image narrative, and I immediately and enthusiastically jumped on “Based on a Song”. Then came a lot of brainstorming (and silliness!), creating a collection of images to pick from, and wonderful discussion and feedback from the group over the summer sessions. I was awed week after week by this group, and in the end, everyone created something special in this workshop.
BTW, sorry (not sorry) for any tunes that may get stuck in your head as a result of reading this post, LOL!
I am really, really happy with these final images, and I have so many more ideas to explore within this theme. That is one of the things I absolutely love about toy photography – endless rabbit holes to dive into :).
Chellie,
This series of photos is so fun. Just perfect depictions of each song. This is the first time seeing the “Yellow Brick Road” photo and it is fantastic! I so looked forward to seeing what song you would choose and how you would represent it each class. A++++++
Oblivious Olive
Deb, what a great series! OH Olive- so oblivious. I love all the little “Easter Eggs” you included in each photo. I still think it would make a great “I Spy” book!
